The 31 Most Florida Things That Ever Happened

I have lived in Florida for most of my life and I consider myself to be very much a part of the Floridian community. This article had pictures of something that happened in Florida, both big news events and pictures of normal citizens. The picture would have a title and then a caption describing the “Level of Florida-ness” in the picture. I really enjoyed this article and I could relate to most if not all of the subjects mentioned and I feel like most of my friends in Florida could too. The article did not make Florida seem as glamorous as people who have not grown up there think it is. I enjoyed that aspect and I also did not. I enjoyed because it was very truthful to what most of the life is like down there. They showed a lot of the crazy criminals in Florida which is honest I suppose because I feel like I see another crazy story every time I turn on the news (Photo numbers 2, 3, 19 26, 30, 31). They kind of poked fun at the fact that there are so many elderly (5, 24, 28) that live in Florida which is very accurate but probably more so for other parts of the state then Orlando where I am from. I was kind of surprised with the fact that they only had one mention of the theme in the caption on photo 10 with the “Level of Florida-ness: Having an annual pass for Disney or Universal Studios.” I feel like they are a more significant part of life than some of the other things pictured because I am again from Orlando. I was pleased with the other aspects of the list. My favorite mention was the pictures with the cranes because I have always enjoyed them being everywhere (Photos 7, 13.)

I found a report about the need for a National Park in urban New York. The report stated many reasons that the Floyd Bennett Field should become a national park and the potential behind the space. They discussed having a new park design before they become a national park and that was similar to the transformation that Triangle Park went through a few years ago to make it better for the public. The city of New York and the City of Lexington are both completely different spaces but they have the city aspect in common. Both cities have parks and they use those the spaces of the parks in different and similar ways. Both cities are working on making the quality of life better for the citizens in the city as well as using the natural space that the land has. The report was written by the Floyd Bennett Field Blue Ribbon panel.
